HOW WE BUILT THIS

One person, working with AI.

KnowTheHold was conceived and directed by Morgan Ormsby and built in collaboration with ChatGPT. The mission, product decisions, verification standards, and final judgment remained human.

“I had heard that AI was changing how we work, but I can’t honestly say I totally understood it until I built KnowTheHold.

As a technology executive, I’ve managed development teams. I’ve sat through countless status, sprint, troubleshooting, and stakeholder meetings. This project changed my outlook. Work that used to take months and involve tens or hundreds of people can now be accomplished by one person working with AI.

AI will change the world. It’s our job to make sure that change is positive and helps the most vulnerable among us.”

This compares estimated replacement cost with cash outlay. It does not pretend Morgan’s labor was free, and it is not a claim that every project can be built for $50.

What do we do with 99.98%? Build things that make life better for people who couldn’t afford to be the target market before.

What stayed human

Morgan chose the problem, set the product direction, defined the evidence standards, made the judgment calls, and decided what was ready to publish. AI did not decide what people need, what claims deserve trust, or when uncertainty must remain visible.

That distinction matters. Faster software production is useful; surrendering responsibility to a machine is not.

What AI helped do

ChatGPT helped research hotel policies, structure data, design features, write and review code, diagnose failures, test behavior, refine language, and move the project from an idea to a working public service far faster than a traditional development process normally allows.

Every AI-assisted result still required direction, inspection, correction, and a human decision to publish. The model accelerated the work. It did not become accountable for it.

Verified technology used

The public application uses TypeScript, React, Next.js, HTML, and CSS. Vinext and Vite produce the Cloudflare Workers-compatible application. Drizzle ORM manages the data layer, and Cloudflare D1 provides the hosted SQLite database through OpenAI Sites.

ChatGPT and Codex supported research, product design, implementation, testing, debugging, and release work. Git preserves the source history. Hotel and booking sources provide policy evidence; those sources remain separate from the software and from Morgan’s final editorial judgment.

What we do not publish

Transparency does not require handing attackers a blueprint. This page does not expose credentials, private prompts, internal security controls, administrative details, or secrets. It explains the real workflow and verified stack without manufacturing a security problem for applause.
